AR 9020 How (can) do I wire it up for 4 aileron servos?

Ok, I just picked up a new to me Extreme Flight 104" Extra. I have an AR9020 receiver that I would like to install in it. I'm running all Savox servos (6V) with LIFI batteries.

I would like to run duel batteries so I'm assuming I need to run them each through a switch and then a regulator to the receiver?

If someone would help with the wiring I would appreciate it.
What channel does the 2nd elevator servo connect to?
What Channels do the 2,3 and 4th aileron servos go to?
What do I need to program in my Gen 1 DX8 to make it work?

I have done this on 50cc planes with 2 aileron servos but not 4. I'm assuming it can (should) be done?

Hi the channel assignment is done through the wing type menu. select 4 Aileron servos and dual elevator servos. Either the monitor or travel adj menus will show you the ch assignments. If you have an ignition kill that goes to aux 3. I have the same plane with a DX 18 if you have questions.

As far as batteries two packs and two switches is all you need. You can run the second pack into the bind plug port.

Check your wing type menu, I'm not sure your DX8 supports 4 aileron servos.

You don't need a regulator with Savox servos an LiFe batteries.

You won't have enough channels for a kill switch.

Oops late night I read it as DX 18. Would suggest you invest in a radio with at least 9 ch and 4 wing servo capability. Thx Andy

You can pickup a couple smartfly equilizers and just use a single channel per wing. That will free up some space in your rx

Yep, matchboxes or some such would be the say to go but if you're going to play with the big boys I'd suggest investing in a nice radio.

Yep! It looks like Radio time. I figured a smart fly would work but didn't want to go that way. Thank you for the information guys.

Smart fly equalizer on each wing half would then let you setup the plane like a 50cc and smaller plane. Each battery into a switch them directly into the receiver. Simple and easy. Yes if you can afford it, now's the Time for a better tx but still not completely needed.

The XPS X24 with 4 DSMX remotes is a good solution. Only 6 channels needed with no compromises.
The ultimate "matchbox" and a "powersafe" receiver to boot!

sorry for the initial misinformation.

there's no argument that Equalizers or Matchboxes won't work - they will. But compared to transmitter based adjustments they are clumsy.

the XPS 24 will work, but by the time you buy the receiver, satellites, soft switch, and LED, for about the same money, you have a used JR 11X, DX 18 or DX 9. It is also plane based and is a little tricky to program. It does have a built in IBEC which is a nice feature.

Whatever you decide....have fun and I am sure you will enjoy flying the Extra!

What receiver?
The X24 replaces the powersafe receiver and just needs the 4 remotes to replace the Spektrum powersafe rx, also the soft switch is built into the X24, as are 2 IBEC's.

I know Pete. The XPS is the receiver and is $200. It needs a soft switch and an LED, plus the sats.

Thanks Guys. I think I am going to look for a new transmitter unless I can find a super deal on an expander. Thank you all for the help.

The X24 doesn't "need" a switch or LED at all. They are conveniences. Most Spektrum users are using the "orange" brand receivers, which cost next to nothing. I don't know how reliable they are (there are mixed reviews comparing to the original brand).

The X24 is very easy to setup and program. I was at our flying field yesterday and one of our local IMAC competitors (who uses the X24) was having an issue with his rudder servos fighting after they were electronically matched. He went to move his plane (42%) and grabbed it by the rudder, and the rudder came off! A week before one of the guys from the R/C car track adjacent to our flying field smacked his rudder with a car. That must have broken the rudder hinges. Lucky the rudder (which obviously was not pinned) had not come off in flight! He CA'd the hinges, went into the X24 setup menu to start the automatch, and 3 minutes later the new match finished and we was able to go flying again - all without leaving the field.
