So,, the PMCR (post model crash report)

No obvious reason for loss of elevator with damage to this extent,, Linkage is firm,, 7955 servo works as should,, only educated guess is it was a push rod failure,, The linkage system has a 1-2 bellcrank system that pushes for up elevator, in retrospect I probably should have changed that to pull for up,, I fear the push rod bent under heavy load, then I just didn't have enough elevator to turn. Like most my planes I flew this plane hard and fast for 5 years, took that long to fail,, so I think it was well designed for a World Models ARF,,, just could take "Me" for any longer

Visually the DA50 looks OK,, minor damage to muffler,,, will be sent in for evaluation, Ignition case came aprt but no apparent damage otehr than that.

One Aileron servos is toast,, stripped gear and isn't working electronically,, Throttle servo stripped gears,, other servos seem fine

Power expanded has some bent prongs,, but looks to be functioning fine,, Pin switch is trashed

RX is working,, but??

Both A123 packs have serious damage to one cell,,, maybe I can build one pack from the two

Retracts are fine being up,, one of the Lado controllers is broken,, will see if I can order just that unit

So yeah,, this one hurt the wallet pretty good

True,,, I destroyed my first model airplane (a control line 1/2 profile mustang) in 1973,, it's never fun,, but you come to expect that sooner or later it's going to happen,,,

Once in the mid 90's I was flying a .25 size p-39 and hit a bird of all things,,, the bird hit the ground before the plane,, it happens,,,,,

another time I built a 36" span House of Balsa FW-190,, about 30 seconds into the maiden flight had a midair with an old Bridi pattern plane fly against the pattern, the guy that hit me didn't even know we hit,, I had to show him the paint on his wing for him to believe,,

It's always a bummer, but I guess I've lost so many over the years it's stopped making me mad at all,,, one or two 4 letter words and I'm over it,,,

Onto the TF GS P-51 that's been waiting in line

Top Flight's GS P-51 is an all time favourite of mine but I've been a bit hesitant in pulling
the trigger on one as I've heard it can be quite handful with ground handling.

Mine flys great and tracks better than any other war bird I have but you have to be carful landing or it will rip the gear right out

So True....I've seen guys planes with a big garbage bag in the turtle deck. I asked what it was for and they said it's to put the remains in after the crash...

Top Flite P-51 is a good first GS warbird.. all warbirds have habbits some alot worse then others.. but in my opinion the P-51 is very forgiving and flies on rails!
