I ended up going with the single stage. I talked them to allowing me to purchase a 1/2 pint of paint of the colors, and I got all this paint for 75 dollars.

The match.

This is a comparison of the Monokote with the paint. I believe they did a real good job at matching it.

I sprayed the white already.

In 30 minutes, I will go to remove the masking tape from the canopy.

Looks good in the picture. But backing primer color and how it actually dries will tell you on the match. Hoping it is all close enough!

Cam,

Hope all is well with you. It’s looking good. It being single stage, are you still going to spray a coat of clear as well? I’ll have to back and read, but I thought someone mentioned single stage not holding up as well over time. I suppose that defeats the reason for using single stage if you spray clear after the fact.

Keith

Looks great with the color match to the Monokote . Good you went with PPG I have done alot of work with it years ago and the quality is excellent . It may take a bit of tinkering around to get the exact coverage but that's with all paint . Great job

Anyone have advice on a good air compressor air filter ?

I sprayed the red and was not happy with the results. Looks like I got some solvent pops or something. And then I thought, what if it is because of water in the air compressor?

Are you using a little desiccant ball filter at your gun? They work pretty well if you keep your compressor tank drained. The larger wall mount units get pretty spendy. For doing the small parts you should be able to get by with the small ball filter.

from the angle and the picture quality it looks pretty close.

I use a water trap filter from Harbor Freight. I also use their automotive spray gun. For working models I found the quality good enough for larger parts (not airbrushing).
