The part that is growing is FPV drone racing... how many clubs have invited them to become members or give them the facilities to operate?

It's more likely that they don't need a open field to fly at.They would be more suited to be flying through a woods in and around trees or indoor course.

It's a different crowd (FPV). There's some crossover but why kid ourselves into thinking like AMA did. Maybe there's some amount of hope out there but if I were a betting man I would say it would be like asking millennial's to take grandma out clubbing. Probly not going to be a good time for somebody.

They will grow older soon and even 20% retention, it works in our favor...

but.. (big but) we are not doing anything to attract them... (for what I've seen..
Time will tell

150% agree. They don't need the field space, they don't need the insurance reqs, they don't even need to worry about FAA if they are racing (while it may still be a law that they need it). Heck the Drone League on TV is always in bldgs. They would have an easier time racing in old places like that or woods vs. trying to share field space with RC planes/heli's. That is just facts. 20% retention rate.....I'd think it would be closer to 2% at best.

There’s an electric only club in riverside ca that blends traditional models with drone racers.

Further down the road is large power field that has a pad for drones. One of the users is a commercial drone pilot who builds very large multi rotors. One of them was used recently to find a plane lost in the field. Granted these are the exception.
