Which kit?

Looking for a project. New to scratch build and looking for advice on a first build for a Rookie builder. Something around 100”.
Thanks, Ken

You mentioned a kit and scratch build.. Which do you want ( scratch = you draw or obtain plans and cut out the parts. Kit= all parts precut)

I assume you actually mean kit. If you have a lot of flying experience on ARFs a Telemaster may bore you as it’s basically a big oversized trainer. Sig and BalsaUSA both have sporty type planes in larger sizes that make an easy first build... good example is a Sig 4 star 120. Can be framed up in a weekend by a first timer but still capable of basic sport aerobatics. Clip the wings and oversized the tail surfaces and stuff a 30cc on and they can actually be quite nimble... I had one once that was modded and could flat spin better than any other plane I’ve ever owned.. Extras and Edges included.

If that’s a little too small for you taste, look at the Sig 1/3 Spacewalker or BUSA Smoothy XL. They have other large kits but they are mostly scale (Cubs, Decathalons, Citabrias) and would be a bit more challenging to build.

The Balsa USA Smoothy XL would be a great choice if you want a kit that is an excellent sport flyer. Its a modern kit, with good cutting and up to date instructions and hardware. Sig and Balsa USA still offer a nice range of kits.

If you want to go IMAC or 3D look at the J-Tec Radiowave kits. For all out scale, hop over to the Vogelsang website for kits from EMHW.

I Think I’ll order that smaller pits kind of like what they’re saying about it.

The Trueworthy looks like a really nice design. I have to admit I’m not a huge fan of the Model 12, but am learning first hand that building the Special/Challenger in smaller scale is a major PIA... central cabane prevents a full length hatch witch make installing the fuel tanks, ignition and cowl a major pain.
