Intro to IMAC in DE

Hey guys,

Across multiple threads there has been talk about several people coming to Lums Pond in Bear, DE to do a mini intro to IMAC day.

To date the following people have said they may be available (I think I have them all - sorry if I missed someone)

Bill J
Albert
Chris M
Dave
Vinny

I don't know what it is about this year but it's screaming by and I went to get a date out to membership asap so they can plan ahead.

I am thinking the Sat of April 19th.

Does this work for everyone?

Thanks!

Re: Intro to IMAC in DE

Saturdays in April and May are tough for me due to the kids sporting activities.

Sunday would work but I probably couldn't do it on Saturdays.

Even if I can't make it I'd be willing to help out in any way I could.

I'm available, but I would be in the "student" catagory.

Re: Intro to IMAC in DE

Dave.. I think I just picked the wrong day.. I knew there was one that both you and Bill thought would be better.. I thought it was Sat.

I prefer Sundays anyhow myself.

Vinny.. I am trying to make the focus of this to really introduce IMAC to people who have no exposure. Last I had heard there were 5-8 people in our club thinking of flying in the IMAC in June but are worried about how to fly the basic sequence and what not.

I am sure there will be time for other stuff but it will depend on how many people show up. I want to get a day picked so I can get an idea of how many newbies want to show up and we will have a better idea of what needs to be done.

If turn out is small and everyone still wants to get together and work on more advanced stuff I am always game for that as well!

Sounds good. Keep me in the loop. No matter how many you get we can always fly our own planes! I'd be the first in line to have you help me to keep my lines straight, loops round and rolls centered!

Yeah, if it doesn't have a huge turn out, I'll do 8 flights, hang out a bit and head home!

Unfortunaley we're camping that weekend. If the weekend changes, I'll try to make it. You have some real thoroughbreds there so it will be a great event.

I can send my protractor thingy down with Albert as a visual aid if needed ( I just have to fix it after Albert used it as tennis raquet )

Jake,

You can count me in as well for that weekend. We should let them do Pete Castine's "short unknown" for the basic guys that he handed out at the 07 Butcherfest. That thing will show them just how important rudder skills are. Basically it's

In the box

3 of 4 to the right
1/2 roll to the left
3 of 4 to the right

Hammer (nothing up or down)

3 of 4 to the left
1/2 roll to the right
3 of 4 to the left

Out of the box

Here's a little Aresti for it

Dave, Albert and Igor

Just in case you guys cannot make this, do you have a particular format that works well for you in presenting something like this?

I'm thinking along the lines of certain people doing certain aspects. Something like we use Vinny to demonstrate correct and incorrect manuevers, go a bit into proper plane setup, etc...

If we need any documentation, I'll be happy to print it. I just got a new HP color laser that is itching to have a good workout

Just some food for thought....

Don't know if it will make a difference to you - but be aware that April 20th is Passover Sunday.

Re: Intro to IMAC in DE

It only makes a difference to me if it makes a difference to those offering help.. if it is a bad day we can change the date.. would have to be bumped up a weekend as the weekend after a couple are unavailable and its my wedding anni. I cant be at the field that day! hahha

I did an email to the club this morning and already got 3 responses of people who want to be there. I know of atleast 2 others that will be there for sure, probably 3.

I did get a question about electric plane for practicing... I know in basic there isn't a size requirement or scale.. I am not sure if he is talking about a foamy or not, I will find out. It is a grandfather / grandson team that want to learn more. I know the grandson is pretty decent with a foamy but I cant recall what other electrics they have.

Does it matter to anyone what types of planes are used for this?

How do people deal with electrics etc at an actual IMAC with the class being open? Good info to know for personal knowledge...
