Thats why i always replace them with a little longer bolts so if they do shear you can take them out from the back with some needlenose

I wonder what the woodruff key looks like since all 6 bolts sheared away?

I had it happen on my DLE 55 and I used a pic to get them out. I forgot to tighten the prop bolts after re installing the prop. My bad! Lol

What was the root cause for them breaking?

Hmmm, of the 10 top things to forget that has to be a close one right next to, getting to the field and remembering you left the transmitter at home

yep. It was on a Monday, i put the 6" spinner backplate on the motor, then the prop, then the prop washer, and finger tightened the 6 bolts. then I placed the spinner and tightened the spinner bolt with a driver. SO that it was not loose. I then, though out the week, every day, did something on the airplane. Installed the radio receivers, installed the fuel tank, installed the wing servos, etc... then by the end of the week, I was doing CG check. then, that saturday, 5 days after putting the prop on, i said to myself, let me turn that motor on, Wings installed, airplane restrained. I put choke on, flip 5 times, it pops, then remove the choke, flip 3 times, and it is running. within 20 seconds, I throttle up, then, as I begin to decelerate the motor, I heard a unusual sound, and Immediately killed the motor ignition. There was no catastrophic event. No flying off of the propeller, in fact, no damage to the prop or spinner. I then immediately knew what happened. " AHA, i never tightened the bolts with my 5 mm hex driver, followed by my torque wrench". It happens. Good thing was, no one was hurt, and besides the 6 sheared bolts. No other damage. Since this happened, the following weekend, I flew the airplane with that same prop and spinner. And no issues. WoW, that was a fast airplane. SO cool. I hope to fly her again this weekend.

My favorite is leaving wing tubes or canopies at home. Occasionally bringing the wrong transmitter! I always just blame my wife for distracting me when I was packing to go to the field.

I usually put a rock in my pocket to remind myself of things I need to remember.....By the end of the day, I often find myself staring at the
rock.....clueless.....
