First try at Imac

Last weekend, I had a go at the basic schedule at an IMAC comp. here in the U.K

My extra, is no more so i had to fly a Non-scale plane (weston uk Groove) so my scores dont count but I thoroughly enjoyed it, met some great people with some bigger planes !!!

The picture says it all !

Thanks

Good for you.

I am under the impression that noise restrictions in the UK are very severe. How are you guys managing the noise on large aircraft?

Ollie, congrats dude! If you video yourself flying the next time you go, then vid yourself after one year of practicing sequences, you'll be amazed! Stay with it! It's frustrating as hell and bruises the ego, but you will be a better pilot. No doubt about that! Good for you and way to go! Biff

Ollie. How come your scores dont count? Under IMAC rules you can fly anything you want in Basic, from a trainer through to a 40% gasser. Its only once you move up into sportsman that you need to have a scale aerobatic plane.

Thanks guys, I really enjoyed it.

Hillman, the bmfa noise regs state 82Db at 7 metres from the model. we dont have any other noise restrictions at our club apart from courtesy to the others.

Excelpoint, Thats what we thought we had read somewhere, but not here in the Uk, I went for the experience

Thanks again

I turned 13 in february and I really would recomend starting, once I had my 1st round I settled down. I didn't think I could fly freestyle and I wasnt prepared and I was asked to bring a music cd, when I was asked if I was going to have a go, I chickened out because i wasn't prepared. Next comp, I'll have a go, with my Edge .

Good luck
Thanks

Yup start competing as early as you can.

We had a kid compete last year, 12 years old, and in his first contest he came in 4ht in Basic with a 4*40!

This year he is back flying a Aerotech Yak 54 with DA50R. Second contest of the season and he takes 3rd in Basic.

Give it a go. Warning though... once you start it will be hard to stop!

Man that sucks that in UK they don't alow any type of A/C in Basic. The whole concept of Basic is to alow people to try it out without having to invest a lot of money.

Hint leave the Edge for 3D and get an Extra 260 or 300 or Yak54 for IMAC! The main thing though is to JUST DO IT!
