Re: Real world RPM

How about some rpm numbers for small engines ?
Zenoah G26 and/or Chung Yang 29cc stroker Zenoah clone..
Mejzlik 16-8 prop, no muffler, 60 degrees, 32-1 fuel, 6800 altitude..
10,000 rpm, about 5 minutes run time from new....
Mejzlik 18-6 prop, 9000 rpm, no muffler....
Add 1000 or more rpm with a Mac's tuned pipe....
Same engines with a Walbro WT499 carb and glow fuel, spark ignition at 28 BTDC, add 600 rpm with no other changes....
The carb is from a glow G23, works with either gas or glow with no changes....
Try that on your SPE, CRRC, UH, or other Chinese wonder engine....
The Chung Yang conversion is a Taiwan engine, the Zenoah is Japanese....

Re: Real world RPM

The numbers get better after a few tanks of fuel..I don't break in engines on a test bench.....The factory Zenoah manual says no break in is necessary, just run the first few tanks a little rich....

The peak torque on a G26 is at 9000, the hp peak is at 12,000...
The manual also says to run the helicopter version at 10,000...
The water cooled marine versions routinely turn up to 16,000 using the stock crank...
Ain't NO Chinese engine made that will do this, PERIOD......
FWIW, I sell the Chung Yang for $275, same as the weaker Chinese engines.....

Re: Real world RPM

How about RC Ignitions G-62 lite on modified DA-50 25mm drop question mark header, 80 degrees and sea level. Amsoil100-1 at 85-1 and 93 octane gas. Engine has over 10 gallons and has been on synthetic since 4 gal of ashless break in.

Same day and optimizing the needles with cool downs in between 11 inch header and 50cc Ecomposites pipe.

PT 24x8 6900 High needle 1 1/2 turns
Vess 22B 7500 High needle 7/8+ turn
Vess 23A 7700 High needle 1 1/4+ turns
Vess 22A 8400 High Needle 7/8 turn

My impression is the heade length for 24x8 was wrong. Throttle response sluggish. On the other end 22A throttle response ""instant"" like having a 456 gear in the back of the big block Ford

The 22A was most fun but let out a bellow that echoed 1/4 mile away thoughout the woods

I estimate perhaps a bit more than 7hp on th 22A setup with Pei Reivers calculator.

Thanks! 5400rpm......doesn't the engine get very hot? I always thought you should have a minimum of +/- 5700rpm. Or am I wrong and does that only count for 1-cilinder-engines?

Greetz.

The numbers above need a caveat, I've found that the wind really affects the readings, the more wind the better if you want big numbers, I didn't know that when I did the test. I later tested on a day with 20 mph winds and got 33 pound of thrust with the same engine. People did not believe you could get that much thrust, 33#, with a 22 inch prop, so I went out on a calm day with the same engine and to my surprise and embarrassment could only get thrust numbers.
