1988 Tournament of Champions, Las Vegas - Model Aviation Article
Attached is an interesting article from Model Aviation magazine regarding the 1988 Tournament of Champions held in Las Vegas, NV. My good friend, Lou Matustik, was cleaning out his basement and throwing away old copies of Model Aviation and thought I might be interested in the article. I decided to scan the article so others could learn about the history of the TOC.
I didn't start competing in R/C Scale Aerobatics until 2000 and felt fortunate to attend the last TOC in 2002. The attached article documents the 1988 TOC and will help those of us newer to aerobatic competition to clearly see the dramatic change in R/C technology over the past 25 years. This article will also help you learn more about William G. Bennett and Walt Schroeder (John Schroeder's father) that started the TOC back in the 1970s. |

I especially like the part about the $10,000 bonus to fly the JR transmitter.
