How to fix stripped plug threads
My DLE111 has stripped spark plug threads, plug will fall out after less than half turn. Better to buy a new cylinder head or try a helicoil? Or something else? Any help is appreciated.

Better do both. I’d buy one while you can:

Helicoils are not that hard to put in,once in they last a life time.I always use red Loctite when installing them never had one pull out.Now you have a steel base thread for the plugs to screw into. But if you have the money and want to spend it buy new if you can.

Yes, right cylinder badly stripped, plug would fall out on 1/2 turn. Was not told that when I bought it. I can tighten it but it would fall out again I am sure. Left cylinder looks clean but not sure why I got all the oil on outside cylinder head, don’t see anything wrong.

Top of each cylinder near plug does not look pitted but it is not silver in color either. Should I be worried about that?

Try giving DLE http://www.dlengine.com/en/ an email with an explanation of what happened and see what they can do for you,,, might be worth a shot.

I would not use a helicoil
I would tap and thread for 14mm plug and use a 14mm to 10 mm plug adapter. Every time I try to use a helicoil they come out.??? Milton |
