Re: Giants From South Africa
Ok.... All of you coming to Namibia !!!!!!ATTENSION!!!!!!!
I managed to get hold of a guy at the Noerdoewer Border Post that is able to help us with entering the Country. He has told me now that the chances of you getting held up are about ZERO, BUT.... there is always a BUT....In case the Customs guys get funny, then you can get hold of him and he will make sure that your goods get send up in a "Bond". This is a much cheaper way of getting your Planes here and back. If you were to go by the book, you would have to pay a provisional VAT payment of 16,5% on all goods declared. This payment you would be able to get back, but it is said to take about 6 months to get the money back. In the bond, you would have to pay a non-refundable sum of 10% of the 16,5% VAT amount. Meaning if you declare your plane to have a value of R2000,00 the refundable VAT amount would be R330.00 (you get this money back after 6 month or so). If we bring the Planes in on Bond, you would pay a non-refundable amount of R33.00. The choice is yours. One thing that you will have to do, is make Invoices our to yourselves stating the value of the Planes that you bring in........these should not reflect the true Value, but some thought up value. I think a 35% Plane would not cost more than about R3000.00. If you have any questions, do not hesitate. |

Stuck!? What`s that. Remember it`s a Landi! LOL. Just dropped the pressure to 0.8bar and everything worked perfectly. Those dunes are realy huge but I was amazed at where one get up to with the right tire pressure and a little luck.
We even camped in the desert for a night and the Landi had little trouble towing the trailer into the dunes. Sleeping amongst those dunes was an experience that we often recollect with sparkling eyes! |

I know your joking....so am I. I can also tell you lots about digging out 4x4`s in the dessert.....Landi`s included!
Will have to get a zagi before I visit again. Have only flown ones at the club that were launched by loooong elastic bands. It was great fun but I can only imagine the fun in the dunes if the Southwester is pumping a bit. Just don`t know who will fetch it at the bottom after each flight..... |
