Wow !! This is BIG ! The reaction time to external force (the kicks) is off the charts ! This thing has surpassed my hopes for robotics in my life time. I have been a life long fan of Isaac Asimov and now that the "body" seems capable enough maybe next the "mind" ! Thanks for posting this as some how I missed it.

Very cool, I wonder what the practical applications for it will be.

Wow(again) your perception is so right!
Preserve the mind as the body will soon be replaceable!
I Will Fear No Evil (back in the early 70's) was such a great and controversial read!!

How do you spell custom-spensive?
Sure sounds like an un-muffler-ed RC engine possibly turning an elec. generator you think? Batteries too heavy possibly- preserving the pay load capacity of 350#'s. Now that would haul most FA - rich SB Americans around.

Oh, no! How will the human race compete with noisy, slow, unarmed robots?! Worse yet, they can't be kicked over AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Perhaps the governator of California can save us by saying there 'bots pollute too much.

Just kidding, though designing a robot that can balance and react to its enviornment that quickly (on legs) takes some serious thinkin'.

I don't think it's controlled (leg movement) by servos. I would think that the 2-stroke engine drives a pump and everything is controlled by hydraulics. Whether it's slow or fast, I'm dang impressed. It may not be fast traversing a hill, but neither is a human with a payload, and the robot can't be killed.
