Build Log
Challenger II built as the Bulldog I
I have a 41% EMHW Challenger II kit, it's going to be done as the Bulldog I. I have started a build thread on two other forums but it appears to be of little interest. Is there interest here for such a build or is this place basically a 3D forum?

Wow, nice response guys. I will post what I have already done and carry on here. First I must say this is not an all out scale build, I have plenty of scale. I want this bird for some all out flying fun, well beyond a scale build's ability mostly due to weight. So I am cutting weight where ever I can. The all out finish will be very close to Jim's plane, as I can see the only difference in this airframe is the lack of sweep at the wing tips. I am not changing it for fear of one "scale detail" leading to an all out scale build. The pic shows what the wing tip should have been.

The cowl with this kit is not the smiley face but a Pitts. The gear are the spring type but will get covered like the full scale, the gear is most noticeable to me and an easy fix. It will be close, very close, to Jim's bird. Your mentioning these thing's that Jim did not like make's me want to go all out scale. But, for this bird to be light enough to be an all out performer it can not have the weight of a "scale" build. If you have any details of Jim's plane I would appreciate them, I will build a scale version shortly after this one.

I have a DLE 111 that was sitting around and wondered if it would do. I also had a thrust stand but in need of serious repairs. So, I rebuilt the stand and put the DLE to the test. At 4000-4500 rpm it pulled 40-45lbs, so as long as I can keep this bird around the 30lb mark it will be plenty of engine for it.
