Another 12 months of RC fun has gone by. Years seem to be flipping by faster and faster. FG was out doing it's thing throughout 2016. The FG crew was attending events like Joe Nall and bringing back all the photos, videos and fun for the site. We sent Miss Ashley all over the country to support events and share them will all of you. Each day the FG editors are looking for news and creating reviews on the coolest giant scale gear we can find.
We want to wish all of you a happy new year and share just some of the stories brought to you by FG during 2016!
AJ Aircraft's third release in their new product line of Laser 230zs is their first giant-scale offering. Their first two in this line, the 56 and 73 have proven themselves to be excellent flyers with great characteristics that has pleased both the 3D and precision pilots. The 93 should be no different than its smaller siblings, so join me for a closer look at how it is on the build table and in the air. - Nikolei Zinsli
This motor is no slouch by any stretch of the imagination. So, what about running and testing? Well, first start up was very easy. Dry out of the box, choke on...5 flips of the Falcon CF 28x10 prop and the girl barked. 7 without and she was running. Pretty throaty sound from those stock mufflers. - Stangflyer
This is one great flying plane. The E-flite Carbon-Z T-28 flies just like a T-28! It may be big as a barn, but it flies as light and easy as a parkflyer. This T-28 has to be the best big plane bang-for-your-buck out there today. This 78" scale type model won't break the bank but it will sure turn heads at your flying field. - Mike McDougall
The Legacy Aviation name, born from the Extreme Flight family of brands early last year, includes a growing mix of sport scale aircraft that can be flown in almost any manner you desire; each one is quite comfortable performing 3D maneuvers, sport aerobatics, or lazy touch and go's around the pattern. -Matt Gunn
The 60" class of aircraft designed around the 6s packs have become highly desired. They give you that big-plane feel with the portability and lower cost of a smaller plane. Hangar 9 got together with 3-time XFC champion Seth Arnold to design an airframe that excels in both precision and 3D aerobatics. The Extra 330SC 60e was the result. - Nikolei Zinsli
AJ Aircraft has become known for their excellent flying Laser 230z airframes (now in 5 sizes), and has seen many of their Laser owners do very well in IMAC and freestyle competitions this year; all despite AJ Aircraft being a company only a few years old. The new ARS 300 and pattern airframe, the Aquity, begin the expansion of their airframe offerings and the crowd has been buzzing in anticipation to find out if these new planes build and fly as good as their Laser 230z flagship. The first shipment arrived not long ago, and we were lucky enough to get an ARS 300 sent our way to check out. So let's dig in and see what's inside! - Nikolei Zinsli
VQ decided to add to the history of the Dauntless by releasing their 81" ARF that was designed around three types of power plants...1.60 two-cycle; 30cc gas engine; or a 3000 Watt brushless DC motor. For this review the DLE 35RA was selected. You cannot get the stunning effects of dive brakes without additional servos and this plane requires 10 or 11 servos depending on your power choice. The kit is very complete and almost everything needed was supplied. The scale appearance is quite attractive and appropriate for the time frame when this plane played its role in WWII Pacific Theater. - Jerry Festa
I'm livin' it up on my last day here at the 3D Farm. I must have just driven away from the field last night when Gene Dalusio decided to hang his plane out to dry on the Haunted House. It was hard to miss as you walked onto the field! - Miss Ashley
Even though an event similar to this has been put on at the MCRCC for the past 19 years or so, this is the first all 3D event the club has hosted. - Miss Ashley
We had planes, we had gas engines, we had glow engines, we had helis, we had warbirds, we had electrics, we had foamies, we had DLGs, we had gliders in tow, and we had a ball! - Miss Ashley
The FG crew is back in their offices and another Joe Nall is in the books. The good news is we have more coverage to share!! - Jim T.
With competition done for the day, the fireworks team setup at dusk as the crowd grew larger for the night time show. Pilots Jase Dussia and Brian Strachan both flew solo flights, then launched their birds in tandem to perform as the fireworks started. I can honestly say that the fireworks show was one of the better ones I've ever seen at any sized venue; we were all up close to the action and the grand finale was intense! - Matt Gunn
The whole FG crews want to thank all of you that post and contribute the FlyinGiants.com. We will be bringing more giant scale news, reviews and event coverage in the coming year!
