FG Exclusive - New Airframes From PAU!

Herve at PAU just gave FlyingGiants the scoop on a pair of new Extra 330's that are making their way to the US very soon. The Extra 330SC 60cc and 330SP 60" are on the opposite ends of the power spectrum but share the same performance and durability.

A 330SC and 330SP

We've got the exclusive from our good friend and giant-scale industry OG Herve Lejeune on a pair of PAU aircraft that are slated to hit the Performance Aircraft Unlimited website very soon! Our hobby has been changing quite a bit in recent years, but one constant is that PAU will continue releasing airframes owned and operated by some of the best competition pilots out there. I'm sure these new birds will be no exception. Let's take a look!

PAU 60cc Extra 330SC

Coming in at 89" wingspan, the PAU Extra 330SC is designed around a 60-70cc gasser; the prototype was wrung out with a DA-70 twin. PAU states: This new, slightly larger 60cc airframe is the result of improvements resulting from many years of experience with the original 50cc Extra 300SP. This new model flies more precise, while retaining all the free-styling attributes one can expect.

Recommended servos are as follows: MKS 777, MKS X6, HBL 575, HBL 595, with MKS 1250 on the throttle. The PAU 330SC 60cc will retail for $699.99.

60cc Extra Part 2 (5 min 56 sec)

PAU Extra 330SP 60"

The soon-to-be-released 330SP is designed for electric power and is championed as "the ultimate balance in precision and free-style flying." This 60" airframe is much more manageable during transportation and storage, making it a great solution for the 3D pilot without a dedicated trailer. Recommended motor power is the PAU Edition Motor (made by Scorpion), at 6S and 540KV. ESC used on the prototype was the Castle Creation Talon 90, and the recommended servos are the MKS 737 or 747.

The PAU Extra 330SP 60" will retail for $279.99.

Nice. My Cristal Ball said I will have one or both by the time Joe Nall is over this year.

DA-70

It appears a DA-70 will fit without cowling modification/cutouts for spark plug caps. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks.

Would a 55 be enough to do this airframe justice, or is my DLE obsolete?

Yes, the DA-70 fits completely in the cowl. That was is powering the prototype in the video.
The 70 actually even fit in the previous 50~60cc Extra that was a little smaller.

There is a mix of Gabriel Altuz and Spencer Nordquist on the 89" Extra.
The electric is Gaby.

Man, both look great.

You need to come out with a sub 8 lb. edge or extra for a dle 20 though.
