Booma RC is bringing in the new year with some new additions to their Smart Bus lineup! I spoke with Rick Gell about what's coming up for Booma RC and Advanced Radio.

News From Rick at Booma RC

Booma RC is happy to announce the release of the all new Advanced Radio Smart Bus range of products. “The Smart Bus range have resulted from discussion with giant scale modellers around the globe” says Brendan Gell. “Our aim was to create a range of products that are visually good to look at, very affordably priced, easy-to-use and are ready to meet the needs of existing and tomorrow’s servo technology”.

While attending several major global events, we talked with some of the best pilots in all forms of modelling and came away with design ideas that filtered down to 3 core designs for the new Smart Bus range.

CLICK HERE for the SmartBus range, available at Booma RC.

Smart Bus Elite

Designed for pilots who choose to fly with LiFe receiver packs and do not require voltage regulated output. Pricing starts at $169 for the Elite.

Smart Bus Extreme

For pilots choosing to run Lion or Lipo packs and need to regulate down to 7.2 or 6.0 volts. Pricing starts at $189 for the Extreme.

Smart Bus Extreme 3S

Designed for the 3D and IMAC pilots who want super-fast high voltage servos. The Extreme 3S comes with active cooling and ready to work with 3S LiFe, 3S Lion or 3S Lipo packs to give the pilot regulated 8.4volt output for today’s high speed high voltage servos. Extreme 3S can also be used with 2S LiFe, Lion and Lip packs for 7.2 and 6.0-volt usage. Pricing starts at $209 for the Extreme 3S.

All the Smart Bus Range Feature:

  • Advanced Radio’s “Smooth Flite” technology as found in the Intellimatch range.
  • Dual Battery redundancy using Advanced Radio’s perfect diode technology.
  • Pin Flag ready switching using our well know pin flag and LED combination.
  • Remote FOB ready switching featuring newly released remote ON/Off power switching.
  • 12 input channels expanding to 26 physical outputs.
  • 3-point servo matching with servo reverse on 5 channels.
  • 14-point Multipoint servo matching with reverse on 5 channels for the Smart Bus Extreme range.
  • Optional 6volt regulated optical ignition unit with “Light Pipe”.
  • Flight timer, so you can see the duration of the last flight.
  • Flight counter so you can log the number of flights on your airframe.
  • Full color 2.5inch screen for visual feedback and servo matching.

Looks really nice, I wonder if it'll come with a choice of battery connectors?
Any word on Booma opening up a US distribution site? I seem to remember a mention of one a few months ago

Can you run the elite with LiIons and have the full voltage to the servos?

Also on the website I dont see the option for a remote FOB for the elite?

Hi Guys. Thanks for the interest. We have been working on getting the Smart Bus out since Joe Nall last year. We added a few more nice things and with flight testing it took a little longer but we think you will be happy with the final product.

Ok, to answer a few quesrions.

1 ) The Smart bus will be available direct from the US warehouse in the next week.
2) You can use the Smart Bus Elite with Lion batteries as well as LiFe and receive the full voltage to the servos.
3) We will consider the remote switch option for the Elite if you think it will be popular.
4) Smart Bus ships with XT60 connectors as standard but we offer a selection of connector adaptors at the bottom of the Smart Bus page on the booma rc web site.

I wish there were pictures of the display and inputs from the RX, unless this is Sbus only.

Looks like Powerbox and Smart Fly have some real competition now.

The price points for these new Booma's is fantastic when you compare it to PB and especially SF

I have used SF hardware alot, but in all honesty, and at these prices, Booma wins.
