Check Out This Monster Extra 300 Kit Build!

We're featuring yet another detailed built thread on the FG homepage, and this one's shaping up to be a real looker! FlyingGiants member Marvan Maxwell (Van) is building a Dalton Extra 300 ML for one of his customers and has submitted one heck of a detailed build thread for all of us to follow along. According to Van, JR X-Bus will be utilized, along with a DA-200 twin.

The Dalton Extra 300 ML is a joint design by Tony Russo and Mark E. Leseberg Jr. This laser cut kit features foam core wings, stabs, and turtle deck. It comes with generous carbon fiber and has a 123" wingspan. The Dalton 300 can be purchased for $1699 and is available through Dalton Aviation.

All right, Van--I gotta ask: I've looked at most of the pics, and I can't figure out how the upper cowl half is attaching with no visible fasteners. Are there j-tabs that fit in those slots in the bottom half? Other screws?

Geez, I'm dumb...

If you look at the bottom cowl you see the four slots in it , there is four plywood like ( J ) hooks in the top. They fit in the slots and top part slides back. Then there is two 6/32 screws that come in from the back side of the F1 former to hold the the top cowl back and in place.

Thanks for looking
