Nitro Bug

Hey fellas, been flying nothing but gas for the last 10 years or so. I've been surfing the Tower Hobbies site for a while looking at different planes thinking how much fun it would be to have a little nitro bird again. Last week I filled my cart with a Great Planes 55" Ultrasport, an OS-55, servos, props, etc.! Having a ball putting this little bird together, can't wait to get it in the air! I bought a gallon of Windex and a case of Viva paper towels.....gotta be prepared! Sent some pics to a friend I really enjoy flying with and he bought one! The whole thing fits under the nose of my Yak...lol.

I love the smell of nitro in the morning (and afternoon, too!) Yeah, they slime and the engines can be finicky, but OS makes a good one.

Lol...we are gonna have a blast with these little birds and there is no such thing as too many airplanes!!

Thanks for the info Barracuda. When I got it I thought a 46 would have been plenty but the 55 is going to be plenty-er!

After looking at the Toledo show coverage, I was astonished that the one new release that got me excited was the Uproar V2

Last January I bought a used plane with a Jett Engineering 50 on it. That puppy turns over 16,000 RPM at full throttle. Don't get me wrong, I love my DA's, but that kind of energy gets my heart racing!

A Jett 50 only turning 16K.....somethings wrong
I have my Jett motors turning 20K+
Nitro & propylene-oxide with vegie oil to mix is the only way to fly
I have Rossi 53's turning higher than 16k
What props are you running ?

Do it! It's kind of hilarious when you get used to the cost of the giant gassers, this plane cost less than a 100cc prop and spinner! I have everything needed to fly it just laying around the shop, I did keep all my glow field equipment though. Looking forward to that first good starter cone burn on the plastic spinner!

At first I didn't really like the look of the re-designed canopy but looking at Barracuda's pics, it looks pretty good!

I have an old Sig Skybolt in my shop, my favorite airplane of all time. I think when I get my Krier Kraft done I'm gonna start putting it together.

I still have all my glow stuff to, guess I should go check the insert in my starter! Lol

Ah the Skybolt. what a beautiful bipe that is. My favorite bipes of yesteryear that I had were the Aeromaster and the Goldberg Ultimate. Loved those planes. I see Aeromaster kits on RC groups come up every now and then....may have to get one!
