Grupp Van's RV-4 ARF - Joe Nall 2017

This giant scale ARF from Walter Grupp was attracting quite a crowd at the main line at Joe Nall 2017. I interviewed Walter about this beauty so everyone knows where to pick one up!

A Monster ARF With Impressive Details

Earlier this week I uploaded some video from the main line at Joe Nall 2017; many of you were wondering about a very impressive giant-scale RV4 that was in the video. I tracked down the owner, Walter Grupp, who actually sells this 114" wingspan, 44 lb Van's RV-4, and interviewed him about the plane. It's designed around a 100cc engine, and the one Walter flies has a 3W 112cc 4-Zylinder with KS-Muffler and a Falcon 3-Blade 26x12.

You can go to gruppstore.de to order, and the ARF is also available at Bob's Hobby Hangar.

WOW!

Got a brand new in the box old style 3W-120 sitting in the shop looking to see the light of day..... Judging by the short nose moment on Mr. RV-4, I'd be inclined to think my powerful but boat anchor heavy 3 Dub would yank this thing around like a
ragdoll but still make it easy to balance....... This begs to ask a question: If I install a new Graupner radio in this new Grupp aircraft, would it be considered Grauping a Grupp? Inquiring minds want to know.....

Here a shot of me next to my friends real RV 4, he visits often and lands on our runway (Eldorado dry lake). He's also one our RC flyers at the field.

You friend is something of a Charlie Hillard fan I see.. He painted his RV in the colors of the Spinks Akromaster that Charlie used to fly.

What was the make of that 4 stroke in there? I heard 100cc but didn't hear the make of the engine.

Not four stroke. Four cylinder.

It's in the text of the opening paragraph: it's a 3W 112.
