Apache Pass 2017!

The Apache Pass RC Club is gearing up for its 2017 Ice House Event and looks to further improve from its 2016 success. From September 28th thru October 1st the historic Apache Pass grounds in Central Texas will be buzzing with around 200 pilots and even more spectators to the Ice House Event. The event has 4 main flight lines for every style imaginable under the sky, we do not discriminate. If it can fly, we can accommodate you, we will make it happen. We fly day and night and go non-stop.

Opinion...

Any thoughts on comparison of E-week at Nall versus Apache pass event?? Texas is much closer to Cali

Simularities..... Yeah, maybe!

The facility is crude by comparison to the Nall experience. The hospitality and friendlyness are most definently pure Texas. The flying on the three flight lines is on par with any venue. I'm gonna go with Triple Tree on the fabulous green grass runways but those East Coast fellas have had years to whip that place into shape. The Greenville area is steeped in historic tradition but this area of Texas is way on down the road more historic than Greenville. The great capital of Austin is down the road a bit. Willie Nelson can still play there on ocasion. Stevie Ray Vaughn music still wafts out of BBQ joints all over town and TexMex food along with the coldest beer on the planet will be found there. Some of the hottest flying will be there and we've managed to attract some big name pilots in the past. Seth Arnold was our guest last year along with a couple of young sprouts by the name of Jonathon and Brian.... Seems all three set the XFC on fire with their flying!
You hear the name "icehouse" mentioned and that's because there is a huge one of those at the front entrance and a veritible river of the aforementioned coldest beer on the planet along with a darned decent Texas steak can be consumed there.
The fly-in boasts warm weather with no wind and a minimum of 675 percent humidity that you will brag that you not only endured but enjoyed. The flying area is void of trees to hit. (Except that one lone tree way out away from the 3D line that everyone uses as a reference point to aim for!) a circus-like tent is a centerpiece of shade . It is rumored that the World Champion BBQ cook-off team known as the Ritch's Raiders will be catering this year so you may have to prepare to let out your belt out a notch or two. (We're not pulling yer leg about the "World Champion" title,,,, They clinched this honor at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo a couple years back!) So..... This is Texas. Everything here will be bigger, better, hotter, colder, taller, prettier, etc. Roman and his crew clad every pilot in a rare and collectible Apache Pass t-shirt last year and is on track to do so again this year. So.....
What's the hold up? You ain't got your Lear Jet warming up and pointed at Central Texas yet??

Kristen,

I love what Wango Tango said. I'd also like to add that the event is growing and we have allot of improvements to the grounds that are either in planning stages or in work. We have learned allot over the years and always welcome all feedback. If you like to chat about the place let me know and I can give you a call.

I've flown here since the 'trial' days of AP. The changes have been spot on to maximize the total enjoyment of the event. If you have never been to AP, no need to wait any longer. It's your time to enjoy the fun in the Texas sun!
