Here is an update from the fine folks of Triple Tree...

Triple Tree Total Eclipse Fly-In (August 20-22)

Ok, you’re tired of doing the same old $100 hamburger run but you’re just itching to fly somewhere new and experience something different. How about a once in a lifetime experience…… at a once in a lifetime place, celebrated with hundreds of your best flying buddies?

Here’s the deal, on August 21, 2017, in the early afternoon, there’s going to be a total eclipse of the sun and Triple Tree will be almost directly under the path of the moon’s shadow! That means that it’s going to be “lights out” for about two and a half minutes during mid-day! Triple Tree will be one of the very best places in the world to experience this incredible event. Ideally, the experts tell us, to best view the eclipse, you need a clear view of the sky. Well, at Triple Tree, everywhere you look is SKY!

We’re going to open the field on Sunday, August 20 at 9:00 a.m. for fly-in arrivals. Our world-class facilities will be open and non- premium camping spots will be available on a first come-first served basis. Please come prepared with food and drinks. We will have ice and bottled water available. Sunday evening will be a great time to visit and socialize with all of your old and new flying buddies. We’ll have a bar open at the hangar and it’ll be a great social event!

Monday evening, after the eclipse, there will be a barbecue dinner at the main hangar and adult beverages will be available. We may just bring out Tempus Fugit, our fabulous TF-51, for a celebratory fly-by! Departures should be planned before noon on Tuesday, August 22. So, how much is this going to cost you? We’ve decided that the normal admission and camping fees will be waived. In place of those fees, we’ll be asking for a donation. The only fixed prices will be for meals and our premium campsites.

Meals and prices are as follows:

  • Sunday evening - bring your own grilling meat. We’ll provide grills, salad, green beans and drinks. - $8
  • Sunday evening -Steak Night - Filet with sides and salad. $25
  • Monday morning -Full breakfast catered by local favorite “A Taste of Home”- $12
  • Monday lunch -Meat and three - $15
  • Monday evening -Barbeque dinner - $25
  • Tuesday morning -Full breakfast catered by local favorite “A Taste of Home”- 12
  • Please see the Eclipse Meal page for advance purchase.

The only camping sites that may be reserved are our premium sites (60 amp electrical and water) and we will ask for a minimum donation of $250 for these. On-line reservations will be available soon for these sites at www.tripletreeaerodrome.com. Please note that there is a limited number of premium sites available. Other camping site availability is virtually unlimited. Remember, Tripe Tree is a 501(c)3 non-profit so your donation may be tax deductible. Every cent donated to Triple Tree ultimately goes directly towards our efforts to “Ignite and Expand the Passion for Aviation” with local schools, scout groups, CAP cadets and others. We truly hope you will join us at Triple tree for this incredible fly-in experience. We promise, it will “eclipse” any $100 hamburger you’ve ever had!

Camping:

  • Reserved sites (38) will go on sale July 9th, 2017.
  • All other sites are first come-first served. Virtually unlimited.

Triple Tree Fly-In September 6-10

It’s hard to believe that September will soon be here and with the warm summer days comes one of the very best Triple Tree events – The Triple Tree Fly-In. Last year, we had a record number of guests and we expect even more this year. The grounds, the runway, the entertainment, the socializing and the facilities just keep getting better and better. Everyone always talks about the grass at Triple Tree and perfect conditions this year has resulted in the greenest, smoothest, softest grass you will ever experience. Don’t worry if you’ve never landed on a grass runway. The Triple Tree runway is soooo smooth that you won’t be able to tell when you touch! Everyone makes great landings at Triple Tree. Our facilities are better than ever with an air-conditioned educational facility and updated ladies bathhouse on the lower end. All of this is important but what really sets the Triple Tree Fly-In apart is the people. Our volunteers will go out of their way to make certain you have the very best fly-in experience possible. So get your plane ready, go to our website and read up on all of the details. We truly look forward to seeing you!

Volunteering at the Triple Tree Fly-In

Triple Tree is fortunate to have dedicated, hard working, fun-loving volunteers. We couldn't operate without them! For our day-to-day operations, a relatively small group of local volunteers takes care of mowing, repairs, etc. but several times each year, for our ever growing events, we need a much bigger bunch of buddies! The Triple Tree Fly-In has grown to the point that like Sun n' Fun and Oshkosh, we are inviting those wishing to join in the fun to sign up to help. You'll have a great time, meet new people and have the satisfaction of truly belonging to the group that makes Triple Tree "The Home of Fun, Fellowship and Hospitality". So, come on, sign up. All we ask is that you bring your friendly face, a willingness to help others have the very best time of their life and be ready to make a ton of new friends.

  • Those that volunteer 4 hours a day will receive:
  • Free admission that day
  • Bottled water
  • Half price for the world-class evening meals
  • Triple Tree volunteer shirt

I have read several spots that the field opens on Aug 20 for Fly in arrivals for the Eclipse.
When does the field open for folks driving?

We are looking forward to the total Eclipse. With all the full scale airplanes coming in during the day, RC is welcome to night fly at the event. Drive inns are welcome to come in Saturday, but understand there will be no food onsite till Sunday evening.
