Build Log
Kam-Aero, new 43% Extra 300 kits

As many of you know, Cam McCausey (world class builder) and Kurt Koelling (IMAC world champion & nation champion pilot) have joined forces to start their own top competition aerobatic aircraft kit company; KAM AERO. website: http://kam-aero.com/

They performed a great deal of design research while building their first prototypes, now they are open for ordering. I believe the first ten kits are sold already, Ty Lyman I believe is getting one of the first production kits and will be doing a build log here on Flying Giants. Ron and I will also be receiving two kits to build for customers, one in New York and one in California. We too will be logging our two builds on FG's as well.

We are looking forward to getting our kits, Cam is still waiting for some of the Carbon Fiber parts to come in.

I think it is great that we again have additional competition quality kit manufacture to add to the list, Jtec Radiowave, Dalton, Carden and now Kam Aero.

Ron and I truly enjoy building any of these top notch kits, and if anyone desires, we are open for a few more contract builds this winter as well.

Jack,

The link to the website is:

There is a ton of info about the design, and pricing there.

The thought building any of these top quality kits that were mentioned would be awesome and I would love to build this new Kam-Aero. I am looking forward to seeing it at the TAS.

The build threads, and especially yours Tom and Ron , might be the greatest part of flying giants.

Thank you for your kind comment, Ron and I along with our friend Ralph that makes it over to help on occasion really enjoy building. We have a great time and it sure is a fun way to make the winter pass.

What is also enjoyable and helpful for us is the sharing of our build's on FG's, we have learned so much from so many proficient builders and I hope we have contributed as well, making the whole process an education and incentive for others to build as well.

Guys this is an awesome plane. I’ve seen this plane evolve over the last few years and ive sit in the judging chair judging it. To say the least, this plane is a MACHINE. A LOT of engineering went into this design and if you are looking for an imac plane I would look no farther

I'm sure it will be a great flying airplane. The airplane is clearly an evolution of the Carden 300 Pro that Kurt flew for years. I'm a bit surprised there isn't any acknowledgement of that fact on their website.

Hi Doug,

Sorry you might have missed Kurt's bio on the website;
"  He is the designer of the 125.5″ KAM Aero Extra 300KK and the 124″ Carden Aircraft Extra 300 Pro"

Kurt, Ron, Tom, Cam.... can you speak to the purpose of the "air brake" strip screwed to the trailing edge of the rudder? I've seen foamies and pattern planes use them but have never seen them on a big plane.
