Build Log
Pau RC Edge 540T 35% 100cc 120cc Build 01- 2019

I purchased in Dec 2018 the 35% Pau RC 540T and the 40% Edge 540T.
I will try to keep build log updated and informative.
I will try to post pictures of progress, that is one New Years resolution.
Happy New Year!

I chose to use Robart pin hinges instead of the hinges that came with the arf. I have had many years of great service from Robart hinges.
I used two different epoxies from Loctite EA E-20HP a 20 min epoxy and EA E-40FL a 40 min working time epoxy. Both have a thicker viscosity than hobby epoxy which makes it extremely less messy.
I melted petroleum jelly (Vaseline) and dipped the hinge joints. I used a combination of mixing tips (I only had two on hand). I also mixed it and used a dental syringe for the hinges and I always run a bead of epoxy around the wing tube sleeve and inner cowl.
I liked both epoxies equally and I have a tube of Loctite 9460 a very thick epoxy I will use later.
For reference E-20HP is off white and E-40FL is dark gray.

The 540T model has a nice large canopy providing easy access to inside the fuselage

Festivus....I am watching your build with interest. This is one of the planes I'm considering. It will be for a DA100L that's in another plane. I don't fly XA so Herve says I'd be fine. There was a build on another site (GSN) of a PAU Extra 330SC. On that Extra, the canopy also had to be glued on like the 540T. The builder had gotten the paint lines of the canopy aligned on the left side of the fuse, but it was really pretty far off on the right side and looked pretty bad.

How does the canopy line up on the hatch and fuse on your 540T? Do you have to cut it to fit (old school) or just glue it down?

thanks!

RCAddiction thanks, I now have two people following build.
I built a PAU RC Viper in my avatar last year, the canopy fit perfect all stripes lined up.
The 540T is a cake walk, its all red no stripes on canopy. I did just a quick test fit and it looks great it will fit with no trimming.
The overall quality of the Viper and the two 540T arf's are just excellent.
Herve is great to deal with and apparently stays on top of quality control.

Finished wings, balancing dual servos on one surface just could not be easier than using the X-24.

Balanced aileron servos (0 min 42 sec)

I'm surprised at the 1/4 lbs difference in weight between the wings

I was a little surprised as well, I will just put more equipment on the lighter side. I sometimes remember to laterally balance my planes, sometimes.

Working on throttle arm, flipped it to have better geometry and alignment.

Not happy with throttle linkage, I believe the rod is too long to get the proper geometry. Will work on it tomorrow. Throttle arm flipped alignment is OK.
