Each flight averaging about 10 minutes -could go longer
It’s been quite fun, much longer flights than my EDF‘s
I just had to do it a little work in the cockpit area
Pilot and seat, Installed a new instrument panel including a tachometer, altimeter, Fuel lever, fuel gauge, control stick, new ammo belts and magneto.
Still need to install compass

Landing gear wires

Working on the landing gear wires using the Dubro turnbuckles. Very tedious job. Trying to get enough purchase on the turnbuckle threads and still have the right amount of adjustment to tighten the cable. Looks nice though when it's done. I used a "tee" pin through the hole in the barrel of the turnbuckle to hold it while I tightened the lock nut. I also used a dab of lock tite on the lock nut.
If there is any meaningful movement of the landing gear struts, I'm afraid it might strip the threads in the turnbuckles. The threads are a pretty loose fit.
We'll see

I didn't bother with the supplied clevis and threaded cable fitting, instead just crimped a loop in each end.

To ensure the cable was taught I loosened the upper bolt a few turns, pulled the cable as tight as possible before crimping it in place. tightening the upper bolt pulled the cable nice and tight.

DLE 55 Accomodation?

I'm using a Laser - 300 V-twin in the yellow Fokker D-VII for now but I pre-drilled the firewall in case I wanted to switch to a more powerful DLE-55. In order to avoid cutting the cowl cheek, or buying a new muffler, I rotated the engine a few degrees. Is this "legal"? Meaning, does a slight rotation of the engine make any difference in performance? I may never make the change, but it's a departure from the vertical mounting in the book, inverted and rotated a bit. Comments, please?

I can't think of any reason why having the motor mounted at an angle would cause a problem.
Looks good to me.

I'm looking at your photo #34 which shows the aileron servo extension coming into the fuse just under the wing strut. I am assuming you did the same thing on the other side. Is that correct? Can you show me where the servo extension goes into the upper wing center section.

Hi, the tachometer, seat, instrument panel, fuse-tubing are scratch,
most of the rest is kit parts from www.iflytailies.com
pretty decent 3-D printed kit parts to correct scale. Just needed to trim, assemble and paint.

I've ran gassers off of vertical on several planes with no issues. Same sort of reason - to get the exhaust to go out less noticeable or have the plug miss something.

Just finished up the last cross wire on the landing gear. I used a spot of Loch Tite on each of the turnbuckle locking nuts. We'll see how that goes.
Everything ready now for the radio installation. Nothing more will happen on my end until after the holidays.

There are small openings near the cabane attachment points on the underside of the top wing center section. They are covered and will need the covering cut out. Same for the fuselage side for the wire to exit the fuselage.

Thanks TW. I don't think I would have seen that if you hadn't pointed it out. I don't recall seeing anything about it in the manual.
I'm trying to think of a clever place to mount the Rx battery(s). Some place that won't interfere with loading and unloading the big motor batteries.

Pretty sure I heard Ali say somewhere that it fly's slightly more powerful than scale with a 30cc...so you'd probably be fine with the FG40. Being a 4 stroke it should provide about 30cc power...maybe a bit more. Sure would sound sweet!
