Never do a deal with people that have a small "limit" on there PAYPAL. Never use a different platform they suggest, and when they give an email to an account that is totally different name its a scam. Always use PAYPAL transaction never the friends and family option. Any time the buyer or seller starts asking for weird or funky things like a picture of the engine with a chicken sitting on top of it.....its a scam.

Festivus, if a buyer asks for a picture with something written on a piece of paper, it's because he/she is trying to avoid a scam seller. A scammer can easily find a photo on the web of a random engine of the same model to post as if it were theirs.

So, if I were to ask someone to write my name on a piece of paper and then take a photo of the piece of paper with my name next to the engine in specific way, then it's simply because that would require someone to have access to the actual engine to do this. It somewhat avoids a scammer who just lifted a random engine photo off the web.

I've never made such a request myself, but I understand why people ask for it. I would not be offended if a potential buyer asked that of me.

I missed that side of the variable, but everything else in the email thread had iffy written all over it.

Yes, I had some difficulty following all of it on both sides of the email. I do think, in part, that there seemed to be a bit of a communication barrier/translation challenge in the back and forth. But as soon as Friends and Family came up...I'd be done. No way I'd buy anything $2000+ without first seeing it in person. Sometimes it means I pass up what might seem like a deal, but I'm willing to forego those sort of opportunities.

I'm a pretty trusting person (unless there are obvious signs of a scam) but one of the few items I ever had an issue with was advertised as "selling for a friend" who was not a member. It all worked out in the end, but the item was not as represented. PayPal can be your friend.

I couldn't make SENCE of that email. The language is hard to decifer. Like said above, as soon as I saw the friends and family I was done. I have bought several items using friends and family but it was from guys on here I have talked with and are well known members. I'd much rather wait for a deal I'm sure of than risking big money on a deal that seems iffy....not worth it !!!!!
