Extreme Flight Release - New 85" Edge 540T

What??!!! Another one...that's right!

Splash

The brand new 85" Edge 540T

From Team Extreme Flight

The second model in our dedicated 50cc lineup, the brand new 85" Edge 540T is on the water as we speak! Lightweight and strong, the 540T features the laminated composite structure found in the previously released 85" Extra, giving it the strength and durability to handle the most aggressive of maneuvers. Known as the 3D trainer for its unsurpassed stability in Harrier flight, the Edge is the perfect airframe to learn the basics of 3D flying. But don't lets its good manners fool you, the Edge is as capable as any airframe we sell and thrives on aggression! 2 awesome Ultracote covering schemes and featuring our new quick-release wing and stab retention system and carbon lock canopy attachment allowing for super-fast setup and breakdown at the flying field. 50cc is back!

Stay tuned for my live interview about this bird!

Ooooh, these are nice! Might have to add to my wish list, and get back in the mid-size gasser game

Could you list some please. I'm looking at a 30cc and am trying to justify going with this one instead, lol.

Excellent! It's good to see a true 50cc back in the EF airframe lineup. Of course, I'll set one up with electric drive )

My comparison would be from larger airframes, 100cc and above.
First would be cost. Price goes down considerably. You don't need the amount of servos or power distribution needed for larger planes. Engines, props, servo extensions, batts, receivers, etc. are all more affordable not to mention the airframe itself. I think the only thing that compares as far as cost goes would be shipping and that is what it is.

Second would be ease of handling and transport or the vehicle needed
for larger planes.

Third would be performance. Personally I like the feel of larger planes on the sticks but the 50 to 70cc airframes fly awesome. I would describe the difference as the 50-70cc planes feel lighter in the air.

For the cost difference, imo, I would prefer a 50-70cc airframe over a 30cc plane any day but what ever you choose to fly it will certainly beat golf...lol

there really aren't any advantages to a larger airplane. they cost a lot more money, take up a lot of storage space, require larger or dedicated vehicles to transport, and can be a bit more involved in set up and tear down.

but they fly much better than the smaller stuff, and that's the only justification that matters. and that's all it takes for the disease to take hold.

I am guessing that with the intro of the new 85" Edge, that parts for the 88" Edge will never be back in stock. I wish EF would have made that clear 2 years ago when I started trying to get a fuse for my 88
