Took the words right out of my mouth. By the looks of these photos a lot of denial going on.

I see the same thing at my local field. I am deliberately avoiding weekends and typically am the only one there with a mask. I often have to ask people to back away.

When they get cranky, telling them about my MIL lung cancer usually causes enough guilt that they understand WHY I am asking them to keep some distance.

So yeah.. lots of denial. Just look at the explosion of new cases in Florida, Texas and California. Its going to be a rough summer, and when the hospitals get swamped again and lockdown orders come back just as small business finally start to recover all these folks are going to regret their carelessness....

Once I saw the pic of the kid/teen in the Trump shirt, I understood why these people were at an event like this with not even a mask on or trying to stand apart from each other.

What's the point of running a Trump 2020 flag at an r/c event anyway? I've never seen anything like that before at Nall, NEAT, any big r/c event I've gone to.

I agree with what I see from the pics that social distancing was not required at this event or enforced. And just a month ago this was a state that was in total lockdown.
As for Trump flag, politics should not be part of an r/c event or your local flying field. Everybody has different views and for years we have managed to keep politics away from our club fields and events. It's fine to show your support with a hat or shirt but the flag is something people notice just like the other comments.

Agreed on your last point for sure. We're all in the hobby to fly. No reason for any politics to be brought into it.

And on your first point too! I fly drones with a few buddies on the weekends and where ever we end up meeting, we stay pretty far apart throughout the day. Should have been no problem at the field. Or worst case, just toss on a mask. Easy!

Hopefully companies like Extreme Flight and Horizon will think twice about sponsoring or lending their name to events during this time.
Covid19 has killed over 120,000 beautiful US citizens in 4 1/2 months and counting. That's 40 times the deaths from the attack on the twin towers.
Please folks take a year off from close contact events or at least use safe practices. Let's try and get this under some sort of control so businesses can reopen and stay open.

Please just let people be themselves. I agree that we don't want political discussions here on FG, but I don't think someone showing support for any candidate on their car or tent should be considered offensive? Otherwise, you're the one being intolerant.

Also, let's please not start 'cancel culture' in the RC hobby. We have few enough retailers and manufacturers as it is.

Lastly, realize no flu transmits well on a bright, sunny day in the Summer. Not arguing more steps might have been taken, but the risk is low at any daytime outdoor event in June.

Could you imagine being so miserable, that when you see people enjoying life you automatically have to start nagging about something they're doing "wrong".

Cant wait to not social distance again.

I wouldn't characterize encouraging the observance health protocols to prevent the transmission of a virus that has killed over 100,00 people "nagging". But you go on and do what makes you feel good, because obviously that's what most important.
