Re: XOAR Eagle Nose Beechwood with Carbon Fiber Tips

I thought about buying one of these recently but decided to stick with the beechwood prop. I wasn't sure I understood what the benefit of the carbon fiber tips was. Do you guys get what the advantage is? It is a fairly big cost difference.

I suspect they are quieter.

Would the tips offer any advantage for 3d?

I looked at these props and like the Idea, but not sure about the execution. Using a different material at the tip and expecting it to stay put at 6500 RPM is a tough sell.

Yea, the design makes them quieter, and the curl of the tip acts much like a winglet, smoothing out the vortices caused by low-pressure air moving to high as the propeller tips reach the higher speeds...This also makes them more efficent.

They sure are quite a bit cheaper than the Prince P-Tip Carbon Props.

Re: XOAR Eagle Nose Beechwood with Carbon Fiber Tips

I have one and have flown it on my EF 88in. Yak. I does 3d pretty well, it just puts out so much thrust because those tips act like shrouds. So much thrust that my throtle settings were lower. I found that I like the Xoar 23X8 or the NX 23X8 better for hovering than any I have flown. I have flown the Vess A&B, Mezlich, Menz, Bolly,Fuchs, Beila, and probably some others that I have forgotten about.

It is a good prop where you need more thrust in a given situation.

Would the prop need to be smaller in diameter since it has the tips on the end?

I have flown the 32X10 JXF P-Tip prop which is the company that makes Zoar. You need not worry about the tips coming off these props. They are laminated on to the tips and if you would happen to break the tips off buy striking something there would be wood coming with them( don't ask how I know this). They are a well designed prop and as was mentioned they do add some more thrust. They are a little more quiet than a stock Zoar and look good also. Get one and you will like it I am sure you will fly it all the time.

Re: XOAR Eagle Nose Beechwood with Carbon Fiber Tips

guys I have been running this prop on my 106 since the nall and let me fill you in. I did have a 3w prop on it and it was just a little heavy and would slow my throttle response. you know what happens when you fly a heavy prop no need in going on about 3w props b/c they are good props just no one of the better ones for 3d. now the eagle nose prop is MUCH little and will give you a faster response in the throttle and I went from a 3w 28x10 to a eagle nose 28x10 and my motor ripps the crap out of it. I need a 29x10 to make it run like it should but as far as for the 3d I love it and you can run this thing barking like no tomorrow with no probs. I wish i could say that it makes it supress the sound a little but really mine is under propped and goes super sonic really quick. I can say this though I have got more flights on this prop since the nall then most do in a few years and for 3d I really like it. to most of the time when you get your plane under propped you get that feeling like it is not pulling well the only reason I am still running the 28 instead of buying a 29 is b/c it just will not quit pulling. Ask jarod clark about he one I have been running he can tell you as well it is a great prop.
note to those with a 106 order the 29x10 it would be a match for it
