Aeroworks Air Racing At The 2010 XFC!

If you were at the 2010 E-Fest this year you probably witnessed the "No Bull" Air races that Frank Noll and the team from Hobbico put on. The racing was very entertaining, and the pilots seemed really to get into the competition. If you missed seeing the event let me explain it a bit.

A series of "gates" has to be flown in sequence, some times the racers must pass through the gate on knife edge, sometimes they must pass the gate straight through. In between some of the gates mandatory aerobatics are preformed. The result is a very entertaining fast paced race against the clock! Even with the small scale foamie air races at E-FEST, milliseconds mattered, and the racing was tight!

Seth Arnold took the Gold at the 2010 "NO-BULL" Indoor air-race with great form, and impeccable flying.

The "No BULL" air race was such a success, Frank recently sent me a message, and I am announcing this exciting WORLD EXCLUSIVE news!

This year at the 2010 Futaba XFC, there will be the intense aerobatic competition we have all come to expect. There will be the insane night flying competition, the team competition and all the usual excitement the XFC has to offer. But this year Frank and the boys have added a new, high energy, exciting event!

(Drum roll please... dadadadadadadadadadadadada)

Futaba and the XFC will be hosting the first ever Giant Scale "NO BULL" air races!
WHAT!?!?!? HOW BAD ASS IS THIS!!!

I can just hear the PA.... Pilot ready, in route, SMOKE ON!!!

Frank said, "The concept will be the same as the races at E-FEST, we will have pylons/gates and a pilot station. There will be two classes: 50-62cc and 100-120cc. The racing planes will be scale planes with a pilot and a mandatory smoke system."

I am sure Frank or one of the Futaba guys can elaborate a bit more, but I am very excited about this!
A whole new level of cool!!

Way to take RC to the next level!!

I am really looking forward to this!

SMOKE ON!!!!

What are the rules? Specs for the planes? Canisters/Pipes/Mufflers? Weight limit?

This sounds really great. I am very excited to see how this unfolds.... May be time to head to the XFC!

Is there video of the original event at the 2010 E-fest?

The gasser version will be over water just like the real RB races, right? Right?!

I think it will be very interesting to watch. and maybe participate in. I have a 50cc airframe that would be perfect for this. Cant wait for more info such as height of gates. and who is going to test out the gates to make sure they dont kill an airframe if you do snag one.

Do the pilots stand on an elevated platform so they can see the pylons better?

This is exciting.

I can envision the greatest "hurdle" being the ability to visually negotiate a 3D course from a single pilot vantage point.
