Re: Syssa 30cc first impressions (video)

I am supposed to get the ES composites pipe, exhaust manifold and a couple of Vess 18A props tomorrow. I will temporarily assemble it all, carbon spinner to the end of the pipe to take some measurements and the next video. After that I will mount it and do some bench testing. I am waiting for either a Pilot-RC Sbach or the EF 78 inch Extra (that has a pipe tunnel, so that is my first choice). If they don't come in sometime soon, I will take off the OS120 on my Ultra Stick and put on the Syssa and pipe. It will be stupid overpowered but I have to fly this on something!

How are you planning on testing them? I want to do the same with the Vess 19A and others.

Did you measure thrust or just RPM?

Re: Syssa 30cc first impressions (video)

I measured the G26 thrust with a Mejzlik 18-6 @ 9000...17 lbs at the tail wheel..
I have no way to measure the thrust on my test stand...
I have a very close (and old) thrust chart from Grish Brothers..It's very close to measured results with other sizes, and shows 17 lbs just like the scale...
Pe Reivers has a good chart on his website, the numbers are quite close to my Grish chaft...
Only problem is the numbers start with 18 inch props, so anything smaller won't show up...

There have been some numbers from the other forum that claim 26 lbs with an 18-6 @ 9300..
That's an impossible number, and I offered anyone $1000 if they could send me an engine and pipe combo that will do that with my tach and scale, on my airplane...NO takers...

I ask because I was thinking of making a sliding test stand with a digital fish scale to measure thrust, and was looking for ideas.

I've been reading a lot of good things about this engine.

Re: Syssa 30cc first impressions (video)

Hi hobby colleagues

I want to tell you my bad story about SAP-180HP 30cc gas engine from Syssa.

After a short correspondence with the company’s (Syssa) director Todd and his written promise:
10.02.2010. Right now there is a 1.5 - 2.0 week lead time to ship an engine after order date.
Total is $504 with 5-8 day shipping to Lithuania.
A paypal request was sent to your paypal address.
Let me know if you get it ok!
I decided to pay the bill, the PayPal transfer was made in 16.02.2010, so the engine had to be sent around 02.03.2010
After this (money transfer) started the real “show”:
I have written several letters to Mr. Todd with the question “when the engine will be sent”, but not get the real answer, only:
17.02.2010. "Thank you...you are all set... We will be sending your engine soon! We'll give you an email with the tracking number and customs number
Time served and I get a few new letters from Mr. Todd:
27.02.2010. We have your engine almost ready and are just waiting for CDIs to be finished and everything will be sent out to you!
We will give you the customs/track number as soon as it goes out! should be a few days."......."We are doing our best here to keep up with demand. Working 12 hour days and Saturdays. The machines are going all day long and engines are getting assembled every day. Right now, machining and other processes are being done on the next 400 engines...which should be ready fairly soon".
18.03.2010. After all sending deadlines and tired from Mr. Todd’s promises I wrote a letter with promises: - to publish this misunderstanding in Hobby forums;
- to start discussion on PayPal

Todd’s reply was overnight
18.03.2010. Did you get the last email I sent to you? I do not think you did? Your engine went out and should be arriving to you in 6-8 days. I will have the tracking number emailed to you later today.
I hope you get this email.

Parcel tracking code I waiting until now.

I opened discussion in “Pay pal” 22.03.2010 and waiting for Todd”s answer.

I waiting for end of this story.

So the colleagues do the findings, think twice before transferring money to Syssa.

Best regards
Saulius

Thanks for the info & with all due respect to your feelings toys are important part of our life & even the slightest waiting period does feels like a lot but we all must understand that syssa is owned by one of us & not a multinational company sometimes it does take a bit longer for small scale companies to established the stock to meet the demands for their product. In fact many dont even try to carry stocks since they are not sure when their investments shall evenout & the economic situations we have seen adds to it further. I feel since syssa was in constant touch with you regading the issue there was no intention of their to cheat you. your shippent got delayed at least you didnt loose your money. So there is no need for warnings. We all love Happy endings dont we ?
