Peter Goldsmith Makes a Kids Day

So we spot Pete and the gang hanging out with some very expensive looking R/C boats at the float plane pond, and decide to check it out.

As we are watching them have some fun, I hear a small kid walk straight up to Pete, introduce himself, and ask if he can see the rudder and propeller on the boat. "Sure" says Pete, and lifts the "Blackjack" up so that the kid can see how it all works.

After watching them run the boats for a few minutes, I then hear the kid ask Pete if he can drive the boat. Without even thinking twice, Pete brings the kid over and lets him steer the boat while Pete controls the throttle, and proceeds to let the kid speed around the lake!

I don't know how long the kid had been at Joe Nall, but I'm sure he was told many times to "not touch", so I can pretty much guarantee that Pete made his day by letting him drive the boat!

Nice Pete....

That was Justin. He is 7 years old and is the oldest boy of friends I was staying with at Nall.

Peter, you made his day. He told me all about it when I got to the campsite after my day of flying. He enjoyed it very much.

Thanks Pete for giving your time to the young dreamers.

By the way, I watched this young man fly a small electric on the 3D line close to dark one night. Both parents fly and they are giving their son a chance to experience flying also.

You guys can't imagine how tickled I was to hear the story from Justin back at camp...but then to SEE it thanks to you CSpaced! I finally got the guts to introduce myself to Peter the next day and ask him to sign my JR hat. What a nice guy! He encouraged me to get out there and try IMAC and by golly, I think I'm finally going to do it.

I gotta start now...before Justin can kick both his Mom and his Dad's butt!

Pete 'gets it' and always has.

The guys who win the big contests are great, but the ones who'll go out of their way to be ambassadors to the hobby is more important.
