Build Log
Mojo 65" Profile Frame Up/Build with DLE 20

Time to get started on my friends Mojo 65 with a DLE 20. I will be doing the build/frame up and any custom parts then I will ship the airplane and engine back to Rick in Las Vegas and he will cover and finish the airplane. Rick will take over the thread once he gets the airplane back and will show the finishing and flight testing.

There is a little material that will have to be removed to install the DLE 20, but that is pretty straightforward. I plan on making a few extra parts for the airplane here and there but the airplane is a great design with a proven flight record, so there will not be a lot of extra parts or modifications done.

The build is not complex, but hope you guys find some interest in it. Couple of pictures from this morning. Take care guys.

Thanks for doing the build thread. I have flow a few Mojos and they are great profiles. Keeping it light with the 20 will be the key. Best of luck.

Thanks for letting me build the airplane. Not much else to post right now, Lisa and I were at a concert all day yesterday afternoon and evening in Orange Beach and just getting back into town. I am hoping to get some work done tonight on it. Talk to soon.

Kenny Chesney. Not a big country fan but he puts a great show, I really enjoyed it. I think I drank too much Coors Light though!

Got a little work done on the Mojo today. I changed the aft cut-out a little and made a template to make sure that when I glue everything together it is straight and square. I will also add four 1/4" dowels at the fours corners to key the hardwood rails into the ply/balsa sandwich. The dimensions of the template will be a little wider than indicated on the plans. This is to account for the laser cutting, cap strips, and covering. I made a mock up using basswood, .040 ply cap strips, and covering to make sure all dimensions lined up. I still need to trim the hardwood rail and then it will be time to start gluing the part together. Couple of pictures, take care guys!

Thanks guys!, I appreciate it! I do have some progress to report. I finished up the hardwood rails, cut the fiberglass tube to length and cut out the servo openings in the lower tube. Additionally, I epoxied the aft section together while I had time. I am sure most guys already do it, but want to mention that it is important to seal the edges of all cuts you make in the fiberglass tube with CA to help prevent delamination. I did not get a chance to glue the rails, tube, hardwood block for the landing gear, and balsa center section together due to family time. I am hoping to get that done this week and get started on building up the fuselage. Take care guys, Happy Memorial Day!, thanks to all that serve and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country, YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!!!
