55% Pitts S2B scratch built

I have started to build this Pitts recently and have been suggested I should do a build thread so here it is, and I hope it will not be too boring ..,.
First I purchased the Andy Sheber plans from Bob Dively. Then I enlarged them to 55% of the full size airplane.
I have started to work on the wings which I highly modified from the sheber plans building more like the full size airplane.

For this airplane, I will not use any balsa wood , but rather be careful on the weight as I go forward.
Here is what I have done so far...

Should have blown them up a pinch more and just hopped in.. LOL

Looks really good buddy. What's the final dimensions and what hp up front. Still have the monster quad around?

To cool. She just looks like full scale construction! Very nice.

Thanks guys,
Karl, the reason for this size is to use my 300 cc EVO 4 cylinder, and yes I want to build it a bit like the real stuff, again a bit outside the box , sure hope it works...

I had a feeling on the engine. Cool.

Oh it will work. The real ones fly pretty good.

I already think we need to think about getting together to fly these things somewhere.

Wingspan? Length? Ok.. I'll leave you alone so you can work. lol.

I know it's a long ways off but you could display it in the bones with permission at Toledo. You can not compete but they will let you do it if approved. I did. Guys would love to see it in the bones.

By the way. I have your canopy in my basement. It's an exact replica if you are doing the 2 place bubble canopy.

This is my buddy's S2a.

Roger are you making drawings of what you are doing or changing. I may have an interest is a set.

I also took many many photos of my buddy's S2a if you would want a copy. I'm sure the s2a and b are very close.

Roger looks great. Only question would be some of the ribs. On the full scale you will have some spruce, some sheeted one side, and some sheeted both sides for the drag blocks and other forces. I noticed you opened all your ply up for lightening. Do you think you will run into any problems? Realizing your at 50% and alot less weight but thought I would ask.

That's a good point you bring up, but as you mentioned, being exponentionally less weight,m I don't think it will hurt any, I have been looking at the full size pitts construction , and for instance near the fuselage on the lower wing, there is a lot of reinforcement structure with plywood covering , and this is for the walking step for the pilot.

Also normally you reinforce the rib between the X wires and this I might still do but I am not putting a lot of tension on these wires, ...
Thanks for pointing that out...
