now that looks like it may just be cooler than a Heterochromic Cat.

I wonder if the 3 cylinders fire together or if there is some trickery in the ignition circuit.

Looks like multiple magnets in the hub, guessing all fire each time it sees a magnet.

Wow, good looking motor for sure Really, if it runs as good as it looks, the price seems pretty darn decent too..

that engine weighs 20 more ounces than a dle 35, and it can swing a 18 x 6 prop.
a DLE 35 weighs 43 ounces, compared to 60 ounces on that saito engine.
a DLE 35 can swing a 20 x 8 prop at over 7000 rpm.
in conclusion: the saito engine weighs more and has less power.

i am not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but the reason i am posting this, being a Saito engine owner. i own the black knight 100, a saito FA 125A, and the Saito FG 36 (single cylinder gas engine).

the single cylinder gas engine, the FG 36, weighs the same as the triple cylinder version.

No doubt, my gas Saito is highly reliable, sounds real nice, and it is all around a well engineered engine.
and probably the same with that triple cylinder engine. i bet it sounds real real nice. Love Saito engines. No doubt.

to get to my point, i purchased an extreme flight 78" extra, the version for a 35 cc gas engine. i installed the saito engine, (FG 36) and was using an 18 x 8 prop.
wow, what a disappointment. it flew like a trainer. i tried other props, 19 x 8, 20 x 6, 17 x 10, etc... the only prop that gave it the best performance was the 18 x 8 prop, however, not good enough. i removed the engine, been waiting for the DA 35, could not wait any more, and went with a DLE 35 with brand new, out of the box, i installed bowman ring and modified the reed block..... and wow, that airplane came alive.

just beware, if you go with this beauty of an engine, that it may make your airplane nose heavy, especially if you are going to go with an aerobatic airplane. may want to put the rudder servo in the tail.

if you are putting this in a warbird, should do great!!

Enjoy it. i know my airplane is a real joy to fly once i put the DLE in it. Again, i am a big fan of Saito engines, and i only have one DLE engine.

Yea, completely understand there are many, many other options which provide price/performance and weight/performance advantages. In fact, I sold my VVRC 40 twin which would turn a 21x8 all day long at 1/3 the price. For me, the combination of radial design, 4-stroke & gas combined with Saito engineering and quality of materials seems so right for my scale DHC-2 Beaver. Cheers

Hey Mark,
Did you get the engine yet? I wanna see it in the Beaver. Hurry up and bring it down to the field, weather permitting.

Mark.

Have the engine ...and have the Beaver! Beaver is virtually complete, except mounting the gas engine bits that I'm not familiar with (gas engine, tank, ignition, etc.). I'm a bit anxious to cut/drill until I sort out the engine mounting details (offset, depth, etc.) at least 100 times. I'm currently at 53!

Another wild card is Saito is soon to release their own radial exhaust ring. So now, I'm conflicted as to which way to go, Saito ring, Keleo ring or stock Saito flex tubes. The recently posted youtube video with the Saito FG-33R3 w/Saito ring sounds incredible!

Still on path to have her in the air this Spring.

Cheers

I do not no the fireing order, but they do not fire at once.Adrian, new CH guy and Xu Liang RCEXL have come up with a distributerless )sp). For the multi cyl engines. All done in the soft ware.
There is a Three cyl four Cyl OS and a nine cyl of some kind shown on you tube.
BCCHI.Sorry about spelling. What do you expect from a farm boy.
