I'm doing it! I'm putting a gyro in my plane! (Bavarian Demon Cortex)

Love them or hate them, gyros are here to stay, how you use them is up to you! I'm already familiar with gyros and how they work from the helicopter side of my hobby, so I decided it was time to see what all the fuss was about with gyros running in planes. I figured this would be a good opportunity to show exactly what gyros can and can't do.

So this is my gyro of choice, the Bavarian Demon Cortex. This is an all in one, three axis gyro, that will compensate the ailerons, elevator, and rudder. It also has the ability to be switched off remotely, so you can choose to fly with or without the gyro with the flick of a switch. The gains are adjustable straight from the transmitter using the end points adjustment. I'm going to install it in my 50cc PAU Edge 540T, running a DA50...

Let us know how you like it. I may give one a try and was very happy with my Helicommand system.

I'll post up my results, and ultimately some video. I also have been very happy with their heli gyros.

I should point out that with the Cortex, if you only wish to compensate a single axis, or two axis, you can simply bypass the gyro with those control surfaces. You basically have the option of running the gyro on any combination of the three axis.

Haha... it's nothing to be ashamed about, I figured there would at least be a few gyro-curious users here.

Interesting. I'll be looking forward to your feedback, both the plus's and minus's.

Thanks.

One thing is for sure, not everyone will like it. In this case, not knowing anything other than "one guy tried it and didn't like it", I can't really comment on that.

Gyro

I have gyros in all my planes. I mostly use the powerbox Igyro. I will never fly a plane without one.
