3DHS Edge 540 106" Build thread

Hi guys,

Thanks to Paul at 3DHS UK I'm now the proud owner of a 3DHS Edge 106" , Just thought I would start a thread to give you guys some idea of what they're like , I'm not really that great at Build threads so this will be more a collection of pictures at different stages in the build, I'm still waiting on some bits to finish the airframe so this may be a slow Build thread.

My set-up -

DA120
Zimmerman Canisters (No Noisy Stock Mufflers Here )
Hitec 7955's x 2 (Elevators)
Hitec 7950's x 4 (Ailerons)
Hitec 7955's x 2 (Rudder)
MKS 767 (Throttle)
Powerbox Evolution
Futaba R7008SB
Mejzlik 27x12TH
Fortitude 32OZ Fuel tank
Lots of Secraft bits

I've got some pics from this evening but the light isn't great and I was using my old Camera phone, Will get some better pictures when I start the build tomorrow.

Cheers,

Alex

Alex H, how did you get one before we got ours? Still a month out for us according to 3dhs.

3DHS UK had a shipment leaving the factory the same week the first Edges were coming off the production line so it's Luck more than anything .

Build starts properly today, Only issue I've found so far is that the Canopy doesn't line up correctly (The rear of the canopy doesn't sit flush), I'm not that bothered as you're not going to see it in the air but must have got a Friday kit..

Well I got a bit carried away with the build...It's finished, Just needs the Aileron and Rudder servos installed and setting up then it's ready for the maiden.

It's been a pretty easy build, everything just fell into place.

The set-up has changed a little bit after speaking to Andrew Ritschel, Instead of a single 8921HV I'm now going for 2 7955TG's. It's a HUGE rudder so really does need the Torque.

Got a few pics of the (almost) finished product, Will get a load more before I maiden it with it all put together. Sorry about the lack of activity on this thread, Really enjoyed building this one before I knew it I had finished it!.

One thing I will say is This thing is huge! It's verging on being the same size as my Old Krill Katana 39%!.

Looks great! We're still waiting for pre-orders here in the US which means another couple weeks from when that happens...

Looks awesome, love the split cowl! You don't always see that on a 100cc bird.
The 3dhs 58" Edge has the same canopy fitment issue - they must have just scaled this one up to 100cc size!

It's an awesome idea, Made making engine baffles so much easier!.

I think the 92" version has the same problem. It's a shame as it's the only thing that's a bit disappointing about this airframe, Ruins the lines of a really pretty airframe.

Pre Orders are now being taken on the 3DHS site

We noticed a slight warp on either side of the canopy, I think this may be why the canopy doesn't like up properly, If so then holding it over a Pan of boiling water should solve it (Using the steam to shape it).

It's been an ultra fast build, didn't hit any snags and literally just fell into place .

Loving the 92 version and need another project. Just preordered a white 106.

Can you perhaps get a weight on yours if you have a scale?

Curious to see how it compares to my DA120 powered 104 Slick and 103.
