Fly Model 30cc MX2 V2 Electric and Gas Builds

I will be building two versions of the Fly Model 30cc MX2 V2 (version 2). One will be electric powered and the other will be gas powered. Manufacture website: Fly-Model and US distributor website: RcJetsWorld

The planes arrived with full carbon gear including, main wing tube, main landing gear, tail wheel mount, and control horns. The main wings also have carbon reinforcing rods located up and down the purlins. The fuselage’s head has two carbon rods running from the firewall through and past the front landing gear mount area. The two sides of the bottom fuselage are also reinforced with carbon sticks.

This particular model comes in two schemes and both will be used. I will be building the electric version first. I loose assemble the plane before building; I like to get a look at what it will look like in person after completion.

I like to put the landing gear on first to get it on its “feet”.

I then install the horizontal stab. The instruction that come on a mini cd state to temporarily install the stab, center and draw a mark around the stab using the fuselage sides as a guide, then remove and cut the covering. I do not see any issue with just leaving the covering on and gluing it in place… but I am following the instructions on the first build.

The control horn installation is pretty straight forward. I like to pre fit and mark the control horns and then remove and cut out the covering so they get a good bond to the wood.

As far as construction of the plane at this point what are your views on pros and cons?

The overall construction of the plane is really nice. Up to par with most other well known brands in my opinion. As with all planes be sure to go over glue joints... but that is just a given I believe.

Mounting of the motor required a little finessing with a dremel rotary tool; not that big of a deal at all. Here is how I did the install.
